When a patron comes in to use the makerspace, you must first check that they are a member of the Makerspace. We use Alma to check the status of our members using notes feature in their Alma profile.

Ask the patron for their Wolfcard. If they do not have a Wolfcard and are a member of the community, they will need to go downstairs to pay for a Community Borrowers card.
Sign into Alma.
Select "Manage Patron Services" and scan the barcode or type in their name. Select "go".

In Alma, type in the patron's name. Shown is Rebecca Glasgow's name in the search bar.

On the right hand side, you will see the notes section.

On this note you will see the words "makerspace 101 training -laser engravers - vinyl cutters-hand router -vacuum former

If the patron has completed a training in the makerspace, you will see the note show up here. You will see the following options:

1. Makerspace 101 Training
2. Laser Engravers
3. Vinyl Cutters
4. Hand Router
5. Vacuum Former

If they would like to use a specific machine, they must have completed Makerspace 101 Training course AND that equipment training course. Look for that training.
1. If they have completed them, then you can check the machine out to them.
2. If they have not, they need to. They can use one of the public computers in the makerspace to do so. This will delay them using the machine, but they HAVE TO do the training before they can use it. They can reschedule their appointment if needed.
3. Reminder: If they want to use a laser engraver or a vinyl cutter they must complete both of the machine modules in those courses. For example, to receive the certificate for the laser engravers, they must complete and pass the quiz for the Epilog AND the Dremel. The certificate will not generate if they only complete one of them. The same goes for the 48" and the 24" vinyl cutters.
