Public Health Problem:
For many urban dwelling residents, there is a lack of accessible fresh, organic and local food options. According to feedingamerica.org in 2018, the state of California, Alameda County community food bank measured a rate of 9.1% experiencing food insecurity, which roughly translates to over 150,000 residents. This project seeks to gather data on current organic farms operating in the East Bay Area of Northern California and to determine how they serve the community and where gaps exist.
INTERNSHIP OBJECTIVE 1 (ASSESSMENT): By August 31, 2020, investigate and perform literature analysis on organic urban gardens impacting residents of East Bay Counties in Northern California.

Methods Discussion
Discuss the rationale of the methodology collection addressing assessment, planning implementation, and evaluation. If there are additional resources, skills, or guidance that you feel you will need to successfully employ to the anticipated methods, include them here.
Assessment will be based on literature analysis and geographical locations of organic urban gardens in both educational and residential communities. Planning includes scheduling garden sites and communicating with site managers/organizers, performing interviews during visits, and identifying community services. The focus is on organic urban garden accessibility to the community and determine where gaps exist. Implement best practices will be determined from survey analysis collection among the East Bay counties of Northern California. Evaluation includes analyzing the gap between urban gardens and community access by using a qualitative face to face interview. In the event shelter in order is current, phone interview or e-survey documenting response. Data collected will be analyzed with guidance from preceptor. Revise to match your new work plan above.

SECTION VI
PUBLIC HEALTH COMPETENCIES
Each student will be addressing six competencies during their internship while completing their graduate-level project. Competency 1 is a Foundational Competency already chosen for you. Competencies 2 through 5 will be chosen by you from the list of Foundational Competencies. For Competency 6, you must select one Public Health Practice Competency. Competencies 2 through 6 should be chosen based on the uniqueness of the graduate-level project. For all six competencies, describe how each competency will be addressed and how the achievement of each competency will be measured while completing the graduate-level project.
Competency 1
Foundational Competency:
Describe the importance of cultural competence in communicating public health content.
Describe how Competency 1 will be addressed in the Internship

Describe how achievement of Competency 1 will be measured
Mapping the urban gardens and services according to zip codes. These will be matched against health data associated with these residential areas.
Competency 2
